Biography

Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair is born in a noble Muslim family of Hingazia village of Kulaura thana of Moulvibazar district in 1966. His father M Shamsur Rahman (Late) was a high official of Bangladesh Air Force. His mother Meherun Nessa was a home maker. He is the fourth among 5 brothers and 2 sisters. The brothers and sisters are well established in their respective fields.

Education: He passed SSC Examination with letter marks from science group in 1981. He passed HSC in 1983 from renowned MC College, Sylhet. He completed his BSC with honors and MSC in Chemistry from MC College, Sylhet under Chittagong University. Later he completed LLB (Bachelor of Law) from a Law College of Dhaka and joined the Sylhet District Bar in the legal profession. Now he is engaged in this profession. He has fame and honor in this profession as a senior lawyer.

Family Life: Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair’s wife Shahima Khanam Happy is a daughter of a noble Muslim family of South Surma Upazilla of Sylhet district. She is an assistant professor, department of Management of a non-government college of the city. Shahima Khanam Happy is well known as a rhymer, storyteller and poet. She has been a member of the Editorial board of Srijan Sahitya Sangh, a literary organization of Women wing, Sylhet since its establishment. This couple has three daughters and a son.

Political Life: He joined Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir when he was a student of MC College, Sylhet in 1987. Later he served at different levels of Sylhet city unit residential area of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir. He served as the secretary and the president of Sylhet City Unit of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir for the session from 1990 to 1994. He was imprisoned for more than six months through a false allegation when he served as the president of Sylhet city unit of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir. Later he served as the Central Education and Student Movement Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir, Asia’s largest student organization. He also served as the Central Secretary and the Central Vice-president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir. Later he was elected the Central president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir. Then he joined Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, one of the largest Islamic Movements in the world. He served at different levels of Jamaat Sylhet City Unit since 2002. He was elected Ameer of Jamaat Sylhet City in 2008. He served as the Ameer of Jamaat Sylhet City from 2008 to 2020. He served as the zone director of Sylhet in 2021. Now he is serving as the Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

Global Visit: He took part in many international seminars in UK, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Hungary, Ireland, Sweden, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Pakistan.

Social Activities: He played an important role in many rational movements of Sylhet people including Sylhet Division Movement, university establishment etc. He is very kind to the endangered and the helpless. He plays a leading role in social welfare activities including assistance to flood victims, distribution of winter clothes, assistance to fire victims, distribution of sewing machines to helpless poor women, distribution of educational materials to poor students.
