Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair said that the flood situation in Sylhet has become dire. Starting from the city, millions of people across Sylhet and Sunamganj districts have become waterlogged. Many people’s houses and furniture were swept away by the water. There is no limit to the suffering of people due to the 2nd round of Upuryapuri floods in a span of 1 month. In this difficult situation, whoever has everything should stand by the flood victims as much as possible. To prevent the humanitarian disaster of flood in Sylhet, the government along with the philanthropic organizations and the wealthy should have come forward.
He said the above while observing the flood-hit areas of the city throughout the day on Friday. During this time, he visited various areas of the city including Shibganj, Upshahar, Sobhanighat, Jatarpur, Kuarpar, Sheikhghat, Akhalia and Tukerbazar and inquired about the people trapped in water and assured the necessary cooperation.
